Kitchen Mishaps of the Week
It was a tough week to be an appliance, gadget or container at our place. Many were thrown in the trash or maimed.
The victims:
Styrofoam egg carton – put it the oven, it was a not so clever idea to get eggs to room temperature quickly (in my defense the plan was to heat up the oven fast and then turn it off, but I got distracted by tulips).
Thermometer – dishwasher? It was broken when I pulled it out of the drawer, perhaps one of us broke it and then put it back in the drawer, ahem.
Handle of pastry brush – too close (touching) burner, small fire, nothing new.
Paddle attachment – dishwasher, who knew you weren’t supposed to put them in the dishwasher? After reading through the KitchenAid forum (and my manual) I found that you’re not supposedto put burnished aluminum attachments in the dishwasher, but a scrubbing with Bon Ami or Maas is supposed to make it all better, phew.
S. says that is why it is called room-temperature and not oven-temperature 🙂
